LIVE DVD and BRAND NEW SINGLE

November 17th, 2011 | By Orange Grove

Greetings from The Hague! The Winter is really starting off with a bang for its buck over here in Holland..and it feels like it’s going to be a very very cold winter..maybe they’ll even have an “Elfstedentocht” this year? It hasn’t taken place in 15 years already but who knows..this Winter might just get cold enough!!

Orange Grove will be ok though…we’re escaping it all mid December when we hit up the Caribbean again for another tour down there..this time for a whole month!

Besides having the usual fun and basking in the sun, we’ll be keeping ourselves quite busy. Besides the shows we’ll be releasing our first LIVE DVD as well as a brand new EP! We are well aware it is about time to give you all some new songs for your collection…and we are very excited that these are going to be those songs you have been waiting for!

Pay close attention..or at least enough attention to stay informed..to our sites and you’ll know exactly when we are dropping both the DVD and the EP and where they will be available etc. The easiest way to stay up to date with us is by ‘liking’ our facebook page at www.facebook.com/orangegrove

We hope those of you in the northern hemisphere are staying warm and those of you in the southern one are getting ready for a sweet Summer!

Keep dancing, smiling, singing and spreading the love!

Michael

The memories!!!

August 19th, 2011 | By Orange Grove

It’s all over..once again. Another successful Caribbean tour is behind us. It started with a bang at the Alley on St Maarten and ended in the chillest of vibes at the Dune Preserve on Anguilla…it felt like it all ended way too soon once again…but you know what they say and what will always be one of the few facts of life: as great as it may be, nothing can last forever. That’s what makes life beautiful too though isn’t it?

This time around we even added two islands to the tour which we had never been to before: Bonaire and Antigua! It felt so special to see how many showed up at our shows on those islands..brand new crowds who had never been to our concert before. We made so many new friends and had so much fun …I really can’t begin to do it justice with words. I’m pretty sure the wonderful photos that were taken can explain it much much better…so here are a select few:

We want to thank everybody who came out to the shows on SXM, CUR, BON, ANU and AXA!! We’d also like to especially thank the following persons and companies who helped make it all possible:
SXM-Marc and Kristin Petrelluzzi, L’Esplanade, Dave Bardfield, Pierre Furland, Pineapple Pete’s, Island 92, Soc, Porto Cupecoy, Melissa St Jean, Norman Wathey, Heineken, ILTT, Taloula Mango’s, St Rose Cafe, Oualichi, Churchie, Sound 2000 and The Daily Herald
CUR-Anouk Borrias, Zanzibar, Chogogo, Tinto
BON-Spice Beach Club, Harbour Village
ANU-Ursula Michael, Sugar Ridge, Constantine
AXA-Tahira Banks, Berit Bus, The Dune Preserve

The next one is already in the planning phases…stay tuned to find out when we’ll be in the Caribbean again, on your island or one near you!

3 week Caribbean Tour July/August 2011

July 27th, 2011 | By Orange Grove

We have all just touched ground on St Maarten and we’re getting ready for a three week Caribbean tour that will even take us to a couple islands we’ve never been to before!

The first show is on St Maarten at The Alley, July 29th. Then we mosey on over to Curacao for a show at the Zanzibar on August 5th. On the 6th and 7th we’ll be on Bonaire for the first time playing at the Spice Beach Club. We then head back to St Maarten for a show at the beautiful Porto Cupecoy on the 10th and on the 13th we’ll be performing at the Saccharum Festival on Antigua, which will also mark our inaugural trip to the island. One or two extra shows may still pop up while we’re down here so if you’re in the area keep an eye on our schedule.

It feels great to be back again and we can’t wait to rock out for all our island people! Oh yeah..we have an OG rookie on board this time! Robert Biesewig is not only cool because he comes from the same country as Moneyboy
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCfm-vWuQRk ) but he’s also money on the drums and is a pretty fun cat to be around. On bass we’ve got a more familiar Robert: Senor Pronk who has been on quite a few tours with us already, most recently this passed January on St Maarten. On lead guitar Tim Kesteloo is back again to reek havoc in the Caribbean, now on his third tour with OG. On rhythm guitar Jacob Streefkerk aka The Abs Competition Hopeful…yes he lost the last abs competition at Mullet Bay Beach last March but he’s been training his ass off and now the stakes are even higher for this August Monday on Anguilla! Stay tuned for results on that! (he’s actually a 2 to 1 underdog if you guys want to make any bets)

We’d like to extend our love and gratitude to the following persons and companies who helped to make this tour possible: L’Esplanade, Pineapple Pete’s, The Alley, Porto Cupecoy, Anouk Borrias, Zanzibar, Spice Beach Club, Ursula Michael, Marc and Kristin Petrelluzzi, Island 92 Radio and Melissa St Jean.

Some photos from our last couple trips to the islands…
ok I won’t add that many because one of the few disadvantages of being on many of these islands is that the internet is real slow. it took me forever just to upload that many! but like i said..that is one of the FEW disadvantages of being down here.

Looking back at a very memorable March

April 12th, 2011 | By Orange Grove

Now THAT was a TRIP! We’ve always had great adventures everywhere we’ve gone…but this one was truly out of this world!

There were of course signs that pointed towards what it might become. For example, in January when we found out from Heineken that Wyclef would be the main act and that we would be opening for him. Not just any superstar we’d be opening for but an artist OG has looked up to and been inspired by from the very beginning.  Then a couple weeks later when we found out we’d be performing on the main night of the Moonsplash, our first show at this very special festival and our first concert ever on Anguilla..on top of that, on that very same night it would be a Supermoon..the biggest our moon has looked in over 20 years! Then to find out that Daphne Schmon (director of the Children of the Wind,  which is being released this Summer and will carry some of our music) was putting together a team of highly trained professional cinematographers to come down to the islands with us and shoot it all. For the big show at the Heineken Regatta we had a SIX-piece camera team recording it all! They also captured many other special moments with us on Sint Maarten, Curacao and Anguilla. We are very excited to be releasing this material later this year!

And the good things seemed to just keep falling into place. The shows at the Red Piano were real sweet.. our first concert at the Soggy Dollar was bangin!…the charity concert at the Sister Regina Primary school was special..sailing over to Anguilla in serious style on board the Bolero (a magnificent 100 ft monohull sailing yacht) was such an adventure…the charity show for helping Japan was a great success.. and all the crowds were amazing! We also had to work hard for it..don’t get me wrong..there were days when we had time for nothing else but arranging things for the trip, and also days while on the islands when we hardly had time to stop and think about anything else but the big show, the audio recordings, the video recordings, the radio interviews…but it’s what we love to do so even those times we seemed a bit stressed..we were exactly where we wanted to be doing exactly what we wanted to be doing. When you love what you do the work is that much easier..we are very blessed in OG.

There are QUITE a few people and companies we would like to thank for helping us to make this tour possible and as successful as it was! In no particular order, OG sends out our heartfelt gratitude to Heineken SXM, ILTT, John Leone, Pierre Ferland, Pineapple Pete’s, The Petrelluzzi Family, L’Esplanade, The Maidwell Family, The Streefkerk Family, Island 92, Laser 101, The Daily Herald, Daphne Schmon, The Bardfield family, Bobbie D Davis, Mike Kopman and the crew of the Bolero, Bankie Banx, Ursula Michael, Moonsplash, Anguilla Access, Cap Juluca, Appie, Arjen, Leander, Anna and Maccow, Dierenbescherming Curacao, Iris de Haan, Brakkeput Mei Mei, The Soggy Dollar Beach Bar, The Red Piano, Jason and Drew, Sound Masters, Rouge, Temptation and its wonderful staff, Mr Rude, Tri Sport, The Old Wife restaurant, MSR TV, Bon Appetit, Ronald de la Fuente, The Real Radio Show and Dolfijn FM. We truly appreciate your genuine love and support!

SORRY IT TOOK THIS LONG TO SAY THIS ON HERE….

March 11th, 2011 | By Orange Grove

but you have to understand…we have been so busy and having so much fun…that we haven’t even found the time to write a blog about it all!

….really… somehow this trip has already topped our last one to SXM?? How could that be?? I don’t get it but it’s the truth..

Every second of it has been so so sweet. From the two days in New York to the big stage at the Regatta last Sunday to Mike being on stage with Wyclef Jean and singing Thug Angels together…and so much more.

A real long blog is soon to follow. For now we must go get ready for our show at the Red Piano which is sold out and is surely going to be explosive!

It is a lot of fun being in OG ..let’s just keep it at that for now. LOVE from Sint Maarten, OG

White Daisy the Video being released 14/02/2011

February 13th, 2011 | By Orange Grove

This Valentine’s Day Orange Grove has decided to do something special. In the name of romance and love, they are releasing their newest video “White Daisy”. Lead singer Michael Maidwell had this to say to reporters covering its release: “It’s our cutest song..especially made for the ladies. We wanted to put an even cuter clip behind it. It’s the story of a lion who is too friendly and thus always puts himself second..even when it comes to going after that which he cares most about”.
Aspiring young designers and animators, Michelle van Mil, Michael van Kekem  and Marthe Roosenboom,  together form Studio M and White Daisy is the first project being released by the group. Find out more about Studio M at

This Valentine’s Day, tune in to Orange Grove at  www.ogband.com and be one of the first to see Lion’s story unfold!
